Even her original campaign against "misogyny" was two-faced since its built around denigrating masculinity as being bad on principle rather than actually targeting violent men. There is actually a good parallel between these movements trying to "bundle" anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism and the way they lump in denigrating the truly toxic masculinity with generic masculinity that they just don't like. In both cases (being the "good Jew" or the "good man") is contingent on doing exactly as they say as a condition of being tolerated.
I think you’re right — she was desperately ‘performing’ for what she hoped was a global audience, so dialled up the histrionics and language — only to come across as unhinged. She thought she would leverage Jewish pain and mourning for some self-promotion. So, so gross.

Thanks for writing this. I am really stunned by the events of last night, including in relation to how proactive and normalised hostility to Jews has become in Australia. I was speaking recently to a friend who is a psychiatrist in Melbourne. He noted that when you define a person or people as 'genocidal', you are implicitly licensing their execution. He also had a bit to say about mass psychosis. I don't know how to process this really but I am grateful to anyone who tries to write and find our way through it.
Your reference to mass psychosis is not misplaced. I had a session with my therapist last week and to my surprise she agreed with me that there is indeed some kind of collective psychological phenomenon taking place. Whether "mass psychosis" per se or some other event like a culture bound syndrome.
The specific example we discussed was of that perinatal nurse Lexie Lawler publicly wishing an American politician disability-inducing birth complications. I hesitate whether to recommend you view the YouTube video... its misogynist to the point of being seriously disturbing. (This is actual misogyny, not the petty type of accusations that get thrown around).
The Australian court characterization of what clearly is racial/religious hatred as lawful political commentary reminds me of the Obama era forceful attempts to characterize Muslim motivated mass shootings of non Muslims as "workplace violence."
