Thank you for this much needed submission that is essential for the Commission to take very seriously and to include in any recommendations they make. If antizionism is not named and specific recommendations not made to combat this category of Jew-hate, then it seems impossible for anything to change for the better for Jews in Australia
Wow, this is outstanding. You've brilliantly depicted the ideology of antizionism and captured the real-world Jewish experience today that so many organizations and leaders fail to do. Every victim knows too well that this form of Jew-hatred does not fit into classic antisemitism - and we hit a wall when we try to find accountability and recourse. Your recommendations paint a clear path forward that gives me hope for the first time in years. Thank you for writing this and for your tireless efforts.
This has to be the most articulately explained analysis of antizionism that I have seen thus far, and I sincerely hope the RC take on all these recommendations. The gen pop desperately need to understand the differences between antisemitism and antizionism, their manifestations and very broad impacts not only on Jewish people obviously, but Australian (and global) society. Well done, Joshua and team. You are all amazing and your work is exemplary 👏👏 👏
Excellent submission. Hopefully, the Royal Commission will appropriately acknowledge that antizionism is today's most potent form of Jew-hatred. My own submission had such a focus. It included (a) references to the VCAT finding, (b) the particular harm caused by the antizionist Jewish Council of Australia in undermining efforts to effectively combat Jew-hatred in all of its forms, and (c) the hypocrisy and double standards of "progressive" institutions on the free speech issue, such that the voices of Zionist Jews and non-Jews are often excluded, as are the voices of those perceived to hold problematic opinions on any other vulnerable minority (- i.e. "Jews don't count").
